Texas caps what a notary may charge for the notarization itself. Travel is separate, and I publish that too, so you know the whole number before I put fuel in the car.

Why the surcharges exist
Evenings and weekends are my standard availability, not a premium service. There is no surcharge for them, because meeting people after hours is the entire point of what I do.
A surcharge applies when an appointment costs me something extra: a daytime visit that means rearranging commitments already on the calendar, a request inside four hours that reshuffles the day, a late night run, or a facility visit where checking in and waiting add an hour I can’t use elsewhere.
Payment
The trip fee is due when you book, which reserves your window. Notarial fees are collected on arrival. Card through Square, cash, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo all work.
If the address I am coming to charges for parking, that cost is due on arrival alongside the notarial fee, at whatever the garage charged me. You get the receipt. I will flag it when I quote you so it is never a surprise.
You get a written, signed, itemised receipt that separates notarial fees from travel charges. Texas requires a notary to be able to produce an itemised bill for fees charged, and splitting the two lines is the clearest way to show the statutory cap was respected.
Required disclosures
Texas Government Code §603.008 requires a notary to keep a complete list of authorised fees posted. This page is that list, and I bring a copy to every appointment.

A lot of the people who need a notary at an awkward hour are the same people already working awkward hours. This is a small thank you, and it is not something you have to ask twice for.
It comes off the entire total, travel included, not just one line of it. Mention it when you text, then show me a badge, a military ID, a VA card, a retiree ID, or a driver license with your birth date when I arrive. One discount per appointment.

The fine print, in normal words
Cancellations and unfinished signings
Changing your plans. Cancel or reschedule at least four hours ahead and your trip fee is refunded in full, or moved to the new appointment, whichever you prefer. Inside four hours, I keep it, because that window is time I turned down other work to hold.
When a signing can’t be completed. Sometimes it just can’t happen: an ID has expired, a second signer isn’t there, the document was already signed when it needed a jurat, or a signer isn’t able to understand what they’re signing. In those cases the trip fee still applies, because the drive already happened. The notarial fee does not. I only charge for acts I actually perform.
This is exactly why I confirm your ID and documents by text before I leave. In almost every case, the short conversation up front prevents the wasted trip entirely.
