I’m Jonathan, a Texas commissioned notary public serving San Antonio and the surrounding metro. Fine Signing Notary is just me. When you reach out, you get me, and I’m the one who shows up at your door.
I built this around a problem I kept watching people run into. Notaries are easy to find between nine and five, which is exactly when most people can’t go anywhere. So a piece of paperwork that should take ten minutes turns into a half day off, or a lunch break spent driving, or a deadline that quietly becomes an emergency.
Meeting people after work solves that. Somebody deploys next week. A title has to be signed before an office closes. A parent is in a hospital bed and a power of attorney needs a seal on it tonight. None of that waits for convenient hours, and it shouldn’t have to.
Texas Notary Public. Appointed by the Secretary of State under Chapter 406 of the Texas Government Code, commission valid through March 2030, bonded as state law requires, and keeping a notary journal of every act I perform.
Bonded and insured. Two different protections, and it is worth knowing which is which. The $10,000 surety bond is required of every Texas notary under Government Code §406.010, and it protects you: if I make a mistake that costs you money, you have a claim against it. My $100,000 errors and omissions policy is not required by Texas at all. I carry it because a notarial error can be expensive, and I would rather that fall on an insurer than on the person whose paperwork I was handling.
How I work
- Fees posted publicly. Government Code §603.008 requires a notary to keep a complete list of authorised fees posted. Mine is on the pricing page with the statute beside each line, and I carry a copy to appointments.
- Notarial fees and travel kept separate. Texas caps what a notary may charge for the act itself and treats overcharging as a prohibited act. Travel is a different thing entirely, so it is quoted, agreed, and receipted separately, never folded into the notarial fee.
- Figures in writing before I leave. No mileage surprises, and a signed itemised receipt at the end.
- Confirmed in advance. I check your ID and your documents by text before I drive out. It takes a few minutes and it is why appointments rarely go sideways.
- Your documents stay private. I look at the signature page and the notary certificate. I don’t read the rest, and I don’t discuss your business with anyone.
- Plain language. If you don’t know what a jurat is, that’s completely normal. I’ll explain it without making you feel like you should have known.
